Meizu recently introduced the M8C smartphone on the Russian market with a price of up to 10,000 rubles. And just the other day, sales of the M6T device started from 11,000 rubles. Both devices are approximately in the same price category, have approximately the same characteristics, so I decided to combine them into one comparison review so as not to produce small materials on the site.

Positioning Meizu M8C is the company's most affordable 18:9 aspect ratio smartphone, while Positioning M6T is the company's most affordable dual camera smartphone.

The cost of M8C is 9,990 rubles, the cost of M6T, depending on the amount of memory, is 11,000 or 13,000 rubles.

Design, dimensions, controls

The Meizu M8C smartphone has one of the most primitive designs I've seen lately - a typical "no-name", if not for the inscription "MEIZU" on the back. Simple plastic and glass, sloping body shape, rounded corners. However, I am glad that the device is sold in four colors: black, blue, red and gold. The first one looks too simple, so I advise you to look towards the blue or red options.

The M6T is more interesting: the back cover is slightly convex, smoothly rounded towards the edges, somewhat reminiscent of the design of some Sony smartphones. Glass on the front side - 2.5D. The color scheme is the same as the M8C. In real life, blue is more like a pale blue color.

The dimensions and weight of the devices are plus or minus the same:

  • M8C: 146x70x8.5 mm and 140 grams
  • M6T: 152x73x8.4 mm and 145 grams

Given the larger diagonal of the M6T (5.5 inches vs. 5.7 inches), the dimensions are slightly larger. It is more convenient to hold the M8C smartphone in your hand, apparently due to an even narrower “waist”. The devices are slippery, so I advise you to buy covers for them.

The quality of the oleophobic coating is the same: prints are barely noticeable, they are easily removed, and the finger glides without difficulty. The front surface of the Meizu M6T looks more impressive due to the use of full lamination: the dark side frame merges with the display. The M8C does not have this feature.

Smartphones are assembled firmly, there are no backlashes and squeaks. During the test, I carried the devices in the same compartment of the backpack along with other devices. Over the course of several weeks, the M8C's lid was slightly worn near the camera, apparently there is a more convex part of the case. The M6T socket has not changed, which is very good. By the way, in both smartphones the case is made of plastic.

The layout of the elements is the same. On the top of the front panel - a camera, sensors, a speaker (the Meizu M6T has a slightly higher volume, the timbre is shifted to low frequencies), an event indicator. Below the display is a microphone, microUSB and speakerphone. On the right are the power button and the volume rocker (tactile sensations are slightly more pleasant on the M8C due to the softer button travel). On the left is a slot for two SIM cards in nano or microSD + nano-SIM format - in general, a typical combo slot.

The diagonal of the younger model is 5.45 inches, the resolution is HD +, that is, 720x1440 pixels, the matrix is ​​​​made using LCD IPS technology. The older model has got a larger screen diagonal - 5.7 inches, the resolution is the same - HD +, the matrix - LCD IPS (full lamination). The pixel density is higher in the M8C, but it is invisible to the eye.

Total: of course, the Meizu M6T screen performed best - here the contrast is higher and the colors are more saturated; viewing angles are maximum, there is no distortion; when the M8C display is tilted, the colors are distorted - they turn yellow or purple. However, in bright light, the picture is better read on the Meizu M8C!

I sometimes get the impression that smartphone manufacturers do not specifically install high-capacity batteries in their devices. What prevents Meizu from using a 3500-4000 mAh battery in the M8C, because few people in the budget segment pay attention to the thickness of the smartphone. Same thing with the M6T: get a bigger battery so people don't have to charge their phone twice a day. And note that the battery capacity grows relative to the screen diagonal: 5.5 inches - 3000 mAh, 5.7 inches - 3300, 6 inches - 3500 mAh and so on. That is, the manufacturer simply supports one operating time on all models.

One more pattern. Almost all smartphones I tested (with IPS screens, non-top-end processors and 2500-4000 mAh batteries) work approximately the same way: 6-7 hours of video and 3.5-4.5 hours of games, the screen glow is no more than 4 hours.

The battery capacity of the Meizu M8C is 3070 mAh and the battery capacity of the M6T is 3300 mAh. And here the miracle did not happen for the M8C: 6 hours of video and 3 hours of games. Screen glow - 3-4 hours. That is, with a little savings, you can squeeze out about 15-17 hours of work from the device with automatic brightness.

But the M6T, to my surprise, "spins" the video for 9 hours, and the toys drain the battery in 5-6 hours. The impression that the older version of the system is better optimized.

The AC adapters are the same: 5V/1.5A, M8C charges in 3 hours and M6T in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Why save on "charging"? There are no headphones and cases in this kit, so at least they put a 5V / 2A adapter.

Communications

Smartphones are equipped with two slots for nanoSIM SIM cards. Both slots work in 2G/3G (band 2/3/5/8 and 1/2/5/8), in 4G LTE CAT 4 band 1/3/5/7/8/20 - the most relevant and common. The network is functioning well.

Wi-Fi b/g/n dual band available for M6T (single band for M8C), Bluetooth version 4.1. Of course, there is GPS and GLONASS. The older model showed simply excellent results: there are 21 satellites in the field of view, 18 are in operation, the accuracy is from 2.7 meters! But the younger one was “stupid” for about five minutes, but in the end she found 24 satellites, only 11 were in operation, the accuracy was from 16 meters. This is so bad.

Cameras

Manufacturers who release their devices in the summer do everything right: the yellow sun, the blue sky with white embossed clouds, the greenfinch on the trees and underfoot - the perfect time to get cool shots. Winter is another matter: cold, slushy, the weather is bad, the mood is rotten, and then you still need to find a shot to demonstrate the quality of the camera.

All this I mean is that now (in summer) any, even a budget smartphone, will show a bright and juicy picture on its screen.

Meizu M8C has one main camera, while Meizu M6T has two main cameras. The second is needed only for digital bokeh. A little more.

In the M6T, the main module is provided by OmniVision - ov13855 (2016 release): 13 MP, sensor size 1/3 inch, pixel size 1.12 microns, phase focusing. Additional module - SuperPix SP2509: 2 MP, 1/5 inch, 1.75 microns without focus. Front camera - Samsung S5K4H7: 8 MP, 1/4 inch, 1.12 µm, no autofocus.

The M8C is much simpler, even the modules are unknown there: 13 MP rear camera, f/2.2; front - 8 MP, f/2.0.

Despite the fact that the M6T uses more famous modules, both devices shoot approximately the same, especially in good lighting conditions. In the dark, sharpness drops noticeably on the M8C. Color reproduction is more pleasant on the M6T.

The front cameras are the same, the only difference is the white balance. Maybe a little sharper on the M6T.

Overall, the cameras are surprisingly good. But, as I said above, the sun, the sky and the greenfinch are to blame.

Both smartphones record Full HD video at 30 fps. I liked the Meizu M8C videos: smoother autofocus, it's a little more accurate. The sound quality is slightly better on the M6T.

During testing, no strange glitches or bugs were noticed with smartphones. Everything is within reason.

I don’t understand the presence of the M8C in the lineup: only 1,000 rubles more expensive is the M6T, which is better than its predecessor in some respects:

The Meizu M8C smartphone uses only 2 GB of RAM (3700 MB/s) and 16 GB of internal memory (160/55 MB/s). Very slow data saving.

The Meizu M6T device can be either with two (almost 4000 MB / s) or with three gigabytes of RAM, built-in 16 GB (94/51 MB / s - extremely low result) or 32 GB. Definitely take the 3/32 GB version, the overpayment of only 2,000 rubles is worth it.

The devices are equipped with slots for microSD memory cards. The maximum capacity is 128 GB.

Meizu M8C uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 (4x1.4 GHz Cortex-A53) and Adreno 308 graphics as a processor. Apparently, this is why the smartphone is sold not for 6,000 rubles, but for 10,000 rubles. And they decided to put MediaTek MT6750 (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 + 4x1.0 GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali-T860 MP2 graphics into the new Meizu M6T. Also an ancient chip, and not the best. In the Antutu test, the younger model scores 43,000 points, while the older one constantly hung on this “benchmark”. I am sure that the result plus or minus is the same.

The games are all, but only on the minimum settings. In general, if you are looking for fast smartphones, then this is not about M8C and M6T.
