Highscreen Zera S Power smartphone review

We already had a detailed comparison of Highscreen devices - Zera F and Zera S - two budget gadgets with good parameters. A little later, a new device called Zera S Power was released. It has become a modification of the regular version: the appearance has changed, the amount of internal memory has increased and, most importantly, a very capacious 4000 mAh battery has appeared in Power.

Since the difference between these smartphones is small, the review will be extremely short, I will dwell in detail only on the operating time and some other points.

Design, dimensions, controls

The Highscreen Zera S Power smartphone looks very simple: a rectangular body with sharp edges, a thick back cover, black color - in general , everything is as it should be for such gadgets, ugly and unsightly. The back cover is flat, but it has a smooth transition to the side edges towards the edges, due to which the device is comfortable to hold in your hand.

The dimensions are as follows - 133x68x13.5 mm, and the weight is 175 grams.

Highscreen Zera S Power

The case is completely made of durable-looking semi-gloss plastic, the screen is protected by tempered glass, the oleophobic coating is present: although prints remain on the display, they are erased quickly, in addition, the finger glides over the surface easily.

Highscreen Zera S Power

For a couple of weeks of active use of the smartphone, not a single scratch appeared on the screen, the case was not rubbed, no chips were found. With the assembly, everything is fine: nothing plays and does not crunch when the gadget is squeezed hard.

Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power

The earpiece is located on the top of the front panel. Its volume is slightly above average, the timbre is relatively pleasant, not mumbling, the interlocutor can be heard clearly and legibly enough. To the right of the speaker is an indicator of missed events, a selfie camera, light and proximity sensors.

Highscreen Zera S Power

Under the screen are the traditional Android touch buttons - "Back", "Home" and "Menu". The backlight is white, bright, but does not blind your eyes at night.

Microphone on the bottom, standard 3.5 mm headphone output and micro-USB on the top.

Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power

The power button was on the left in an unexpected way. Usually this arrangement is convenient for left-handers. The button is thin, long, almost recessed into the case. Not very convenient to use. The same type of volume rocker key. She is on the right.

Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power

On the back side: camera eye and flash, heavily recessed into the back cover, speakerphone.

Viewing angles are maximum, but when tilted, the picture goes a little purple.

In general, for such a device, the screen was pleasantly surprised by its high brightness and excellent viewing angles.

Highscreen Zera S Power

Battery

By the name of the model one could guess: either there is a powerful processor or a capacious battery. However, given the price of the Zera S Power, it's easy to see that it's more about the battery than any cool chipset.

Highscreen Zera S Power

The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh. The manufacturer does not share data with us about the operating time, so we tested it ourselves.

  • Antutu Tester showed about 5000 points
  • Playback of 720p video (MP4) at maximum screen brightness and headphone volume - approximately 8 hours
  • Browsing via Wi-Fi - about 18 hours
  • Browsing over 3G - about 12 hours
  • Total average battery life (3G, calls, texts, emails, twitter) is approximately 27 hours

Despite the rather good numbers, I still expected more.

For some reason, the kit contains a dead AC adapter that charges the battery to 100% in about four hours.

Communications

In this section, everything is typical for any budget Android smartphone. The device operates in cellular networks 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz).

Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power

Bluetooth version 4.0 available for file and voice transfer. There is wireless Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. The smartphone, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or modem.

The USB connector functions in Host mode, that is, it is easy to connect, for example, a Flash device to it.

There is a GPS. Its sensitivity is quite good: in “cold” mode it finds up to 3 satellites in 20 seconds, up to 5 satellites in a room near a window in 10 seconds, and up to 15 satellites in open space during the same time.

Memory and memory card

Internally built-in 1 GB of RAM. On average, about 600 MB are free.

Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power Highscreen Zera S Power

There is 8 GB of Flash allocated for data storage. Of these, 5-6 GB are available for user needs. There is a slot for a memory card, its maximum capacity is 32 GB.

Camera

Two modules: 5 MP with autofocus and 2 MP frontal without focusing. There is a flash.

Photo quality is average or below average. Basically complaints about low detail, a lot of noise, not the most accurate focus. "Front camera" shoots quite tolerably.

The device records video in FullHD resolution 30 fps. The quality is poor: not sharp, when you change the focus, you can hear how the lenses move, the picture trembles if you quickly change the focus between near and far objects.
