Highscreen Tasty smartphone review

Not so long ago, Vobis Computer released a smartphone called Tasty. Frankly, I don’t quite understand what is going on in the heads of the management, since Tasty is practically no different from Power Rage, Power Ice, Prime L, Boost 3, Bay, and partly Power Four and Power Five. Chipsets, the amount of RAM and battery capacity are shuffled, the same cameras, screens, versions of operating systems and so on stably remain. In my opinion, it is necessary to develop: leave a couple of models in the budget and middle segments, try to make more powerful devices with better processors, cameras, screens and a fresh OS. Too focused on one category of gadgets with the same functionality. Moreover, as I understand it, the devices still do not have a single style, which is bad: a common concept is needed so that users can recognize the brand of a smartphone by its appearance.

A little distracted from the phone. So, in front of you is a smartphone with a metal case, its heart is a 4-core chipset, inside there is as much as 3 GB of RAM. Everything else is typical. From the original color. Highscreen Tasty is available in Rose Gold, Gold and Silver.

Tasty now costs about 13,000 rubles. That's what Vobis Computer has always been able to do, is to accurately determine the cost of gadgets among competitors. Sometimes it even turned out that there were no competitors.

Design, dimensions, controls

The main feature of this model is its appearance. The developers tried to please the weak half of humanity - girls and women. However, I do not welcome the division of devices by gender, since I personally like the red color of the phone, and pink, and blue (I used this Meizu M1 Note for about a year). The Tasty smartphone looks elegant, quite concise, the colors are pleasing to the eye, the polished edges play nicely in the light, the fashionable 2.5D curved glass also fits well.

The case, as I already wrote, is metal, on the back of the top and bottom is separated by plastic inserts. They are slightly different in color from the metal - darker. In the "gold" and "rose gold" the front panel is light, in the silver version it is gray. For a 5-inch device, the dimensions, it seems to me, are somewhat large - 144.2x71.5x8.1 mm. Given that the battery here is only 2400 mAh, then the thickness could be reduced to about 7 - 7.5 mm. Frames on the right and left "squeeze" from 4.5 mm to 3 mm. That's when you would get an excellent compact and thin smartphone "not like everyone else." As for the weight, the figure of 137 grams strained me a little (data from the official website), since I feel the weight well and understand that Tasty weighs more. It turned out that he weighs 155 grams (plus or minus 2 grams).

Ford Escape 2013 SE Silver

On the top of the front panel there are proximity and light sensors, a camera, an indicator of missed events, a conversational speaker. The speaker is loud, intelligibility is excellent, the interlocutor is heard well, there are no noises, echoes or other extraneous sounds. The timbre is pleasant with low frequencies.

The screen is protected by Asahi Glass Dragontrail. There is an oleophobic coating, the quality is not bad, prints are removed quickly, the finger glides easily.

Below the display are the back, home, and menu touch buttons. Marked with silver paint, no backlight. Bottom - microphone and microUSB, top - 3.5 mm jack.

On the right - three separate buttons: two are responsible for volume control, one is power. Made of metal, pressing is soft, the stroke is average, there is no click sound, very easy to use.

To the left are the metal sleds. They install either two SIM cards of micro and nano formats, or a memory card and a micro SIM card.

From the back: a camera framed by a brushed and body-coloured ring, a flash and a speakerphone on the bottom. The hull is indestructible. The assembly does not raise questions.

Display

This product uses a 5-inch screen. The physical size is 62x110 mm, the frame on top is 16 mm, on the bottom is 17.5 mm, on the right and left are about 4.5 mm each. There is an anti-reflective coating, which is quite effective.

The resolution of Highscreen's Tasty display is HD, i.e. 720x1280 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16:9, and the density is 293 pixels per inch. IPS matrix without air gap.

Maximum brightness of white color is 409 cd/m2, maximum brightness of black color is 0.51 cd/m2, contrast ratio is 800:1.

Brightness graph without question

Gamma around 2.24 is normal

Levels. Extremely overpriced blue color

Temperature - about 11,000 K

Received data does not match the sRGB triangle. The data does not fit, which means that the colors will be more faded, in addition, the gray color will be unnatural, since the values are located outside the Delta E=10 zone.

In the display settings, there is an item called "LCD Effects". If you set "Cool colors", then for some reason the colors become warmer, and if you select "Warm colors", the screen will go completely red.

Conclusion. Visually, the screen goes into warm shades, but according to the data, the opposite is true - it should turn blue, the shades are cold. Pros - high brightness and contrast.

Battery

This model uses a 2400 mAh non-removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery.

In my mode of working with the device, the gadget functioned for 1 day: an hour of calls, constant synchronization with Wi-Fi (from 9.00 to 01.00, Twitter, mail, Skype, Whatsapp), 4-6 hours of LTE. The glow of the screen in this mode is up to two hours.

With minimal load, you can achieve 3 hours of screen glow at 100% brightness of the matrix backlight. With games, the situation is a little worse: the battery runs out after 1-1.5 hours of continuous “battle”. The video device "twirls" for about 6 hours (HD).

In the kit you will find a weak 1A AC adapter. So it will take a long time to charge the battery, 2.5 - 3 hours.

Communications

The device works not only in 2G/3G networks, but also in 4G CAT 4 networks:

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900 MHz);
  • 3G/HSPA+ (900/1900/2100 MHz);
  • 4G/LTE (1/3/7/20)

There is no NFC chip, the rest is standard for any Android smartphone: GPS and GLONASS, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 with OTG support.

Memory and memory card

There is 3 GB of RAM inside. Very good for this class of devices. Built-in memory 16 GB, available about 10 GB. There is a slot for a microSD memory card, the maximum capacity is 64 GB.

Cameras

Traditionally, there are two camera modules: 8 MP (F2.4 aperture) and 5 MP (F2.2 aperture). There is one LED flash.

Apparently, it uses exactly the same module as in previous smartphones. Only the optics has changed: the main module had an aperture of F2.2, but it became F2.4; front - F2.8 changed to F2.2.

This model has a Pro mode for manual parameter settings.

Sample photos

Performance

The device is powered by the Taiwanese MediaTek MT6735 chipset. This is a 64-bit SoC that contains 4 ARM Cortex-53 cores, a 28 nm manufacturing process, each with a clock frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. The graphics used are Mali T-720 with support for Open GL ES 3.0 and Open CL 1.2 API.

When the processor is under load, the case practically does not heat up.

If we talk about software optimization, then everything is fine with Highscreen: the interface works smoothly, without any hint of slowdowns, applications start quickly. With toys, everything is also more or less normal, but you should not count on the maximum parameters and 60 FPS: for example, in Unkilled you have to set the settings to medium or even low, Brothers In Arms 3 also slows down.

It should be noted that the MT6735 chip was created as an inexpensive solution for use in devices that can operate on various networks. Therefore, its main feature is LTE in our country.

Performance tests

Software platform

The novelty operates on a relatively old version of the Google Android 5.1 operating system. Most likely, Tasty will not receive Android 6.0.

Multimedia

The music player is branded. At startup, it automatically scans the memory for melodies. Works with folders. Headphone volume is high. The quality is cool for such devices, but you have to listen. I liked everything. There is an equalizer and ready-made presets.

The volume of the speaker is average or slightly above average, the quality is not bad. Radio present.

Conclusion

If you're confused about Highscreen devices, here's a hint:

  • Compact centenarians - Power Five or Power Four. Three days provided
  • Musical - Boost 3
  • Simple and light - Prime L
  • Iron Workhorses - Power Ice or Rage
  • "PowerBank" - Five Evo with 5000 mAh battery
  • "For lovely ladies" - Tasty

There is no special point in commenting on Highscreen Tasty, since it practically does not differ from its counterparts in build quality, signal reception and other things.
